Honey Boo Boo, You Shrunk My Brain

Even if you live in a van down by the river,
you probably know who this little girl is.

Here name is Alana, but she is world famous as

"Honey Boo Boo Child"

because you don't get your own show when you're named Alana.

She first entered the public eye when she appeared on "Toddlers and Tiaras" as one of a myriad of little girls disguised as 70's era trollops.

Honey Boo Boo and her family are working overtime
to demonstrate how very real they are
by cultivating and displaying
every natural bodily function to it's full effect.
If there is an Emmy for gassiness,
Honey Boo Boo has it made.

H.B.B.'s mother is an enigma wrapped in flesh,
a coupon cutting, belching oxymoron of torpor and ambition.
And she is a star.

Watching Honey Boo Boo and her family party in their yard next to the train tracks on their homemade slip and slide made out of garbage bags has a strangely cheering affect on all of us.  After an hour of Honey Boo Boo, watching Jersey Shore and Hollywood Housewives feels like watching  Masterpiece Theater.
The more pathetic the behavior of those we are watching,
the better we feel about ourselves.

It's pride porn
and it's addictive (burp)

Well now I can never admit that when my kids were little we, too, made them a slip 'n slide out of garbage bags. Worked pretty good too, y'all.

Oh my GOODNESS!!! That show has got to be a new low for television. I seriously lost brain cells while watching it. One episode was enough to cure me of Miss Honey Boo Boo and her family forever. (I am just glad they don't live on the west coast, they could be related to me. Oh wait, they probably are somewhere along the line, {{{{{{{cringe}}}}}}.) It kind of makes me not want to do geneology just in case there is a connection. LOL!!!!!!!!!!

All I've seen are the ads, and they are enough. I shudder to think of a Canadian incarnation of this family - I guess it would be bilingual though!

I have never seen this, and I appear to be missing quite a spectacle, because I've been reading about this "lovely" family quite a bit lately.

My first awareness of them was during that interview when Romney was asked which he preferred, Honey Boo Boo or that Jersey Shore chick.

I am not sure about giving a teleBision show to people who can't seem to afford a teleBision. Then I thought, is this just a slightly reworked version of the Rosanne show?

I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but the closest I get to reality TV is Mythbusters. LOL Honey Boo Boo does not, therefore, hold me in thrall, though if I watched it once I might be trapped, like when The Replacements with Keanu Reeves comes on.

I don't have cable, but every time I see something about Honey Boo Boo I wish I did. Reality TV makes me like myself so much.

Wow, good thing I have your blog to keep me updated on the world. To think I have never heard of Honey Boo Boo...

I can't say enough how revolting I find that show. And pretty much all reality shows. What I can't understand is everybody I talk too feels the same way yet it has all these high ratings. Who's watching it?. Humans can be very embarrassing at times. *sigh*

I haven't heard of this! But I don't like the little girl beauty pageant stuff anyway and don't watch them. American Pickers is my idea of a good reality show.

You did a great job of conveying your real feelings on this post, Larainy, lol!
