Quoth the Forty Niners: Nevermore

It's the Monday after the Super Bowl and 89% of Americans are going to work with nacho cheese hangovers.  For my nonAmerican readers, and for the unAmerican readers who just pretended they like football so they could get invited to a neighborhood Super Bowl party and chow down  free on Lil' Smokies wrapped in bacon; here is a Super Bowl wrap up.

The Game
The epic match up was between the Baltimore Ravens
and the San Francisco Forty Niners.

Of course, this was a mismatch from the start because a Raven can just pick up the football and fly into the end zone, scoring at will while the husky Forty Niners (gold miners in Spandex) ineffectually throw pick axes at the sleek black Ravens streaking through the air above them.  As a last resort, the San Francisco Forty Niners brought out their secret weapon, a gold panning pan that they threw spinning at the elusive ravens like a lethal frisbee, but to no avail.

It was an exciting game with black feathers drifting softly through the air and the smell of forty niner sweat mingling with the robust scent of super bowl kielbasas on the grill.

I can't wait until next year.

We went to the bar to watch it and I ate my weight in wings and Doritos. I like how you have this post under the "kielbasa" label.

We Bay area fans are sad, but at least the Niners made a fight of it in the second half.

My husband is still sure that a Niner's fan pulled some lever in an attempt to quell the Raven's momentum. (He's a bit of a conspiracy theorist...) I was amazed that no one knew that Baltimore Ravens were because of Poe's poem "The Raven." He died in the gutters of Baltimore. (I think that is true about them being named after Poe. If not, it makes me happy, so I'm going with it.) This is the first time in decades that the team we wanted to won. Yeah!!

Well, seeeeeee...... Our 12 year old Grandson really likes the Ravens. Soooooooo, guess for whom we rooted.

Actually, "Pop" was next door with one of our sons/wife and the above "Grand" and rest of his siblings. Eating *nasty* foods and having a good ol' time.

I just mostly had the game "on," while I was reading, at home. I love to read in my own chair. I can't eat those *nasty* foods. I can't even eat a lot of *not-nasty* foods so a gathering like that, didn't tempt me. :-)

An excellent time was had by all!!! :-)

Yep, on that first play of the 3rd quarter, the Ravens pretty much did just pick up the ball and fly it into the end zone. Great game though, wasn't it?

Ha. We actually kept going back and forth between the game and L&O reruns. Your description rocks, though. I especially like your depiction of the 49s. hehe..
