Thirty Days Hath November

image found here

Leaves twirl and crunch
  and the daylight wanes
   before the kids are tired

Cheers from the stadium
drift on gusts of cool night air
  while you walk the dog

Grandma Costco bakes
 a thousand pumpkin pies
and they are gone before seven

Aunt Myrtle calls
 volunteering
  to bring the dressing

You lie
  and say
  "That would be lovely"

Take an extra
 helping
   at dinner tonight

It's time to start
 stretching your belly
 for Thanksgiving.

:) That was cute.
Don't you just hate it when some self-righteous soul offers to bring a green salad?........all that guilt, painstakingly chopped and dices. Boring, boring.

I super love the picture! And isn't it funny how we know what we love and know what to avoid at that repeated dinner! I can hardly wait!

Very nice lyric!

That picture reminds me of a group I joined on facebook once. It was called "I'll go slightly out of my way to step on a crunchy looking leaf." And I do.

Laraine,

That is the very best poem about November that I have ever read!

That is so nice that you can count on your auntie to never forget the dressing.

Have a great weekend!

Kathy

Grammie Costco DOES make good pies. Big ones too. And I'm with Sue - my belly is quite big enough, thank you. I'll just remember to wear some eatin' pants. (i.e. stretchy)
