Keg Race, Snowflake Style

Most family reunions go something like this
image found here
  • 10:00:  meet at park for games
  • 10:30: emergency room visit for Skippy who got hit in the eye by a water balloon and is seeing double
  • 11:30: Uncle Cooter gets mad and goes home to watch "Turtle Man"
  • 12:00: Potluck lunch featuring Aunt Vita Mae's famous potato salad
  • 2:00-eternity: Talent show featuring Mindy and Mandy, the baton twirling twins from the Twin Cities
  • 2:30: emergency room visit for Uncle Lester who took an errant baton to the noggin
  • 5:00: emergency room visits for everyone who ate Aunt Vita Mae's famous potato salad which is now even more famous because of a a new secret ingredient "salmonella"
My Flake family reunion features a full-on rodeo.  The favorite and final event is the keg race.  Now, if this wasn't a bunch of mostly Mormons, a keg race would probably feature some sort of intoxicating liquid refreshment, but at our rodeo, it's a game of musical chairs on horses.

The cowboys/cowgirls sit on their "kegs" until the announcer says go
Everyone mounts their horse as fast as they can
And race around a barrel at the end of the arena.
Stirrups are optional.
When they come back, one of the kegs is gone
and everyone jumps off their horse to find a seat.
It's intense and crazy fun.

This year, my brother Jeff entered the keg race.
He came in third.

We're expecting better results for him in his run for the Senate.

Love,
Your Family

That looks like a fun sort of family reunion - with horses! The closest we'd get to horses up here is horse shoe tossing.
Good luck to your brother! It's good that he didn't win the Keg Race - you don't want him to peak too early!

Glad to see the Flakes have Fun. Your brother has had quite a few slings and arrows thrown his way. He looks like a scrapper. I predict people are smart enough to back a good guy and smart leader. You go, Jeff. Those Flake reunions are so rowdy!

Well I'm votin' for him. If for nothing else, look at that guy ride! I get intensly irritated at one certain ad that's out there running every five minutes now. I want to punch you know who in the jaw for running it.

Ahhhh.....polite clean politics. Was it always like this?

That looks like so much fun --- to watch. I, too, have been dismayed with the tone of the primary race. Makes me want to skip checking the mailbox. Good to see that Jeff just keeps going forward.

That looks like so much fun! Wish I lived where I could vote for Jeff. I would sure do it. We can always use another crazy senator. One of my friends is married to a Flake (not literally) - Chuck Flake. Any relation?

What fun that must be! Well, if I could ride a horse, that is.

What fun! I guess I'll have to wait for him to run for President to cast my vote. :) Also, I think the voters need to know he has a hilarious sister - surely you help keep him humble!

What fun, seriuosly! This is also proof that a bunch of flakes can have a good time. Best wishes on the outcome on the campaign.

If I had been a fence sitter of Jeff Flake, this would have definitely made my vote solid. Too bad I was already going to vote for him.

This looks like so much fun! And I voted early, had to make sure to get our votes in for our friends!
