The lovely Month of May Massacre

The jacaranda is shedding purple wool

The herb jungle is dense and mysterious

The flower boxes groan, stuffed with blossoms

 The gardenias wax proudly
about their superior odiferousness

Even the habitually humble geraniums are way over dressed

And yet, amid the bees, the blossoms and the gentle breezes there is carnage .

Noisy grackles dive bomb Nixon,
taunting him with disdainful Grackle cackle.

He lies in wait, feigning indifference
and then leaps from the grass,
snapping them out of the air with gator jaws

Score:  Nixon 4, Grackles 0

Oh, Nixon! Those crackles can't be tasty. Poor dear. Your flowers look amazing. Why does everything of mine dies in the Arizona heat. What's your secret? I love the pictures. That tree fluff reminds me of the bouganvilla blooms that bombarded me before we ripped them out. (Maybe that's why vegetation doesn't grow for me. I kill it if it's messy.)

I've never heard of Grackles, but I am glad Nixon is taking care of them for you. I'd like to see it in action.

Now that's love. Nixon loves you SO MUCH that he's willing to eat Grackles just to keep you safe. What have you done for him lately? Milk Bones? Pup-Peroni? Beggin' Strips?

Is that really a bird name? Grackle?

Your flowers are incredible.

Aha! Good for Nixon! My cat (Peter the High King of Narnia, Petie for short) isn't quick enough when the swallows dive.
