It was so cute to see the new phone books arrive yesterday loaded in horse drawn wagons. The whole neighborhood came out to watch them being delivered by fresh faced young lads dressed in hand sewn trousers held up with suspenders over muslin blouses laced with a strip of rawhide.
Thanks Dex, for keeping the past alive, but next time just bring me a tree.

I never even open mine...just take to the recycle bin. In today's age of computers who needs a phone book? (or three --which is how many we get delivered) I think it should be optional. Have them send each house hold a post card and the householder can return the card IF THEY WANT A PHONE BOOK. Even paying for the cards think of how much money they will save not printing all those extra phone books!!!
Julie, that's an excellent idea! We probably get phone book deliveries 3 times a year, from different publishers. All I want is one Ma Bell book. The internet works, but sometimes a search is too vague for it to pull up exactly what I want. And I don't even have a land line anymore!
EXACTLY HOW I FEEL!
Luckily, tomorrow is blue can day, or I may have to use them as a doorstop for another week.
I can't even believe how many different kinds of yellow pages we get. So annoying.

Our family loves them. For entertainment, we read the residential phonebook and laugh at funny names like "Illeta Phifer." Try it; your Family Home Evening activity will never be the same.
When mine came - I secretly put them into my kids book bags for school. Just to see how long before they noticed.
Mr Monkey
We bring ours to the office and see who can rip them in half the fastest. You can't get that kind of fun from just a tree!
that's an excellent idea!
